Big news in the automotive world: General Motors (GM), Honda, Chrysler, and Volkswagen are recalling over 654,000 vehicles due to a variety of issues ranging from brake problems to potential fire risks. If you’re a car owner, this is the perfect time to check if your vehicle is affected. Let’s dive into the details and what you need to know to stay safe on the road.

Chrysler Recall: Brake Issues in Ram Trucks

Chrysler is recalling 317,630 trucks from the 2017-2018 model years. This includes popular models like the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500. The problem? A potential failure in the hydraulic control unit, which could lead to malfunctions in the anti-lock brake, electronic stability control, and traction control systems.

What Chrysler Owners Need to Do:

·       Chrysler dealers will replace the hydraulic control unit free of charge.

·       Notification letters will be mailed starting January 9, 2025.

·       Owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (Recall number: C4B).

Honda Recall: Fuel Leak Risk in SUVs

Honda is recalling 205,760 SUVs, including the 2023-2024 Passport and 2023-2025 Pilot models. A problem with the fuel filler neck tube and pipe could cause them to separate, potentially leading to fuel leaks.

What Honda Owners Need to Do:

·       Honda dealers will inspect and repair the fuel filler system for free.

·       Notification letters will be sent out starting January 6, 2025.

·       Owners can call Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 (Recall number: OKM).

GM Recall: Tailgate Latch Problems

GM is recalling 131,231 vehicles with power-unlatching tailgates. A water intrusion issue can cause the tailgate to unlatch unexpectedly while the vehicle is in Park. Models affected include:

·       2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500 and 3500

·       2024 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500

What GM Owners Need to Do:

·       Dealers will replace the tailgate touchpad switch assemblies at no cost.

·       Notification letters will go out starting January 13, 2025.

·       Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC at 1-800-462-8782 (Recall number: N242469160).

Volkswagen Recall: Battery Overheating in Audi Hybrids

Volkswagen is recalling 4,616 Audi vehicles, including the 2022-2023 Q5 PHEV and 2022 A7 PHEV. The high-voltage batteries may overheat, posing a fire risk.

What Audi Owners Need to Do:

·       Dealers will install advanced diagnostic software by mid-2025.

·       Until then, owners are advised not to charge their vehicles.

·       Interim letters will be sent starting January 24, 2025, with a final remedy to follow.
